Safety Turtle's primary purpose is to break the silence of drowning.

Young children usually drown with a care giver close by. Contact with the child was lost during the seconds an immersion accident takes to unfold. Rescue, though moments away, is usually too late. The silence of drowning does not give many second chances. My goal is to break the silence of immersion accidents, to give parents that last chance.

Safety Turtle has an important second mission, but only if used properly.

"I'm not to go in the pool with my Turtle; only with mommy or daddy."

Parents should remove the Turtle just before taking child into the pool, and put it on [and leave on] immediately when they come out

The Turtle is crafted to engage a child. But parents have to follow through ... so child takes the lead ... thereby LEARNING. Many parents, particularly moms, get this instinctively. It's hard to teach, so it is not necessarily for everyone.

"First we take your Turtle off ... before you go swimming with daddy. ..... Now we've dried you off, did we forget something?"

The Turtle is at its best with one year olds, and autistic [and high risk] older children, i.e.,where other layers may be at their worst. One year olds have the greatest propensity to elude supervision in plain site, while older autistic children often overcome physical barriers.

Thanks for all your responsible promotion of drowning prevention, and Safety Turtle.

But please, TV producers, do NOT show children playing in the water with their Turtles on!

This misses the point on both alarming and training:
requires the Base Station to be unplugged, leaving child unprotected till someone remembers to plug it back in
lengthy immersions accelerates discharge of the Turtle's battery
misses the training point entirely!!!
